Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB) Tamil Nadu Assistant Surgeons (General) Examination Eligibility Criteria:
Nationality:
Candidates must be Indian citizens.
Or
A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
Or
A person of Indian Origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia with the intention of permanently settling in India. They should also obtain a certificate of eligibility given by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Age Limit:
All the age will be calculated as on 01.07.2024
- For General candidates maximum age limit is 37 years.
- Disabled Candidate may get 10 years of age relaxation.
- Ex-service man candidates belonging to general category, maximum age limit is 50 years.
- For SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBC&DNCs, BCs, BCMs (including Ex-Servicemen belonging to these communities) maximum age is 59 years.
Educational Qualifications:
Candidates must have MBBS a degree from a recognized university or institution included in the Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956). The courses must be approved by the Medical Council of India.
Note:
- Candidate must be a registered practitioner within the meaning of the Madras Medical Registration Act, 1914.
- Candidate must have served as House Surgeon (CRRI) for a period of at least one year.
- Candidates must be registered their name in the Tamil Nadu Medical Council on or before the last date of this application i.e 15.05.2024
Pay Scale / Salary:
Level-22 Rs.56100-177500 (For more details about please go through Annexure-6 of official Notification, link given below).

Exam Procedure:
Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB) Tamil Nadu Assistant Surgeons (General) Examination will be held in two phases
1. Tamil language test( 10th level): The test will be taken in 10th level standard, objective type question, Maximum marks 50 and minimum qualifing marks is 40%., alloted time 1hour.
2. Computer Based Test: Objective type single paper Exam for Assistant Surgeon (General) This test will be taken in 2 hours. Total marks is 100, and minimum qualifing marks is 35% (for reserved candidates 35%)
Application Fee:
For applying in Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB) Tamil Nadu Assistant Surgeons (General) Examination general candidates, they have to pay Rs.1000/- (One thousands rupees)
Candidates belonging to SC/ST/DAP/PH categories are required to pay Rs. 500/- (Five Hundred rupees) as application fee.
All the fee paid for this examination is non-refundable.
